Interpretation of BVD Antigen ear notch test results
Negative: OD </=0.15
Inconclusive: OD >0.15 to </= 0.3 (Status is therefore unknown)
Positive: OD >0.3
Negative Results: There is no evidence of BVD infection.
Inconclusive Results: These may represent animals that are transiently infected, persistently infected or not infected. Animals should be re-sampled (blood or tissue) 21 days after the tested sample was collected.
Positive Results: Confirmation of persistent infection requires a positive virus antigen result on a second sample (blood or tissue) collected 21 days or more after the first. However, where clinical signs of mucosal disease are present this is unlikely to be practicable or necessary to confirm diagnosis. Suspect mucosal disease or other terminally ill cases may be examined post mortem to confirm the diagnosis by other virus detection tests.
