Lamb Crop Webinars are back!

 

Following on from previous years, SAC consulting (with funding from UIF) have organised another series of relevant and engaging webinars. Follow the links below to register for the individual webinars.

 

Webinar 1 – Lamb Finishing

18th January 2024, 7.30pm

This webinar will address some of the seasonal issues that have arisen for last year’s lambs, to help producers finish medium and long keep lambs during the winter and spring. Including internal and external parasites, feeding systems and working with grain following a challenging harvest in 2023.

Webinar 2 – Increasing Flock Output

8th February 2024, 7.30pm

As we approach lambing, we can enhance flock output through maximising the production from the lambs, for this reason we aim to cover triplet lamb management, triplet ewe and lambs behaviour and successful rearing of orphan lambs.

Webinar 3 – Reducing Flock Input – Grassland

15th February 2024, 7.30pm

  • Mike Evans, The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies

To enhance profit, inputs to flocks can be reduced, in this webinar we cover the grassland aspect of this including planning for multi-species swards, rotational grazing and fertiliser decisions. We will also tackle how worms and the changing climate fit into these management practices.

Webinar 4 – Reducing Flock Input - Labour

Thursday 22nd February 2024, 7.30pm

  • Joanne Conington, SRUC geneticist

Our final leg of the series looks at reducing labour through various aspects including, genetics, lambing ease, reduce labour at lambing and lean management through reducing time.
