Royal Highland Show - Scottish Beekeepers Association

Step into the sweet world of bees and honey at the Honey Tent, at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh every June!

For over 30 years our charity has hosted the Honey Tent on behalf of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland.

Whether you’re a curious visitor or an experienced beekeeper, there’s something for everyone in this vibrant and educational space dedicated to the wonders of bees.

What You Can Expect

• Live Honey Bee Displays – Get a close-up look at the hive with live bee displays! Watch in awe as these fascinating creatures work together, and learn how bees are essential to the health of our planet.
  
  
• Honey Tasting – Sample a variety of local Scottish honeys – each with its own unique flavour based on the flowers and landscapes from which they were gathered. Learn how honey is harvested, processed, and what makes each jar special.
  
  
• Educational Talks & Workshops – Want to know more about how bees make honey, the challenges they face, or what it takes to be a beekeeper? Join our expert-led talks and workshops, perfect for both beginners and seasoned beekeepers.
  
  
• Bee-friendly Gardening Tips – Discover simple ways to make your garden a haven for pollinators, and help protect these vital creatures in your area.
  
  
• Kids’ Activities – Fun and interactive activities for children, where they can learn all about bees and how important they are in our food system, roll a candle made from beeswax, go on a letter hunt and so much more! It’s a great way to inspire the next generation of bee champions!
  
  
• Bee-autiful Competition Displays – Not only is there a wealth of things to do in the Honey tent, but you can also enter the many competition classes and marvel at all the wonderful entries and creations on display within the tent.

APIMONDIA 2025 - A SOCIAL CONGRESS

It is with great pleasure that on behalf of the Scandinavian beekeepers we can invite you to participate in the 49th APIMONDIA Congress in Copenhagen September 2025. We are eager to present you to our beekeeping, countries and culture.

The congress will be organized jointly by the beekeeper associations in Sweden, Norway and Denmark: Sveriges Biodlares Riksförbund, Norges Birøkterlag and Danmarks Biavlerforening.
There are so many things dividing us people in the world today - and there are so few precious things bringing us together. Beekeeping and our common love for the bees and their world is one of them. It is so important for us to create a space in Copenhagen where people can meet and create bonds and friendships for life.

In short, we want to make this congress for the bees, beekeepers, scientists, the industry and for the people from all over the world who care about bees and honey and beekeeping.
Our visions for the congress are:

• Showcasing pure apiary products!
• Unity and knowledge sharing.
• Together, we make the world bloom.

We will work hard to obtain this and to give you a unique experience in Scandinavia.
We look forward to seeing you in Copenhagen 2025.

Welcome to the 2025 Scottish Smallholder Festival!

Join us at the home of Agriculture in Scotland – The Royal Highland Centre for the 14th running of the Festival!.

The Festival will be held on the 18th October at the Highland Hall. Doors will open at 9AM, and you are invited to join us for our annual celebration of the Smallholder.

The festival has a lot to do:

• You will be able to see a Livestock competition for sheep, goats, and pigs. This year we will once again be featuring the RBST Scottish Championships.
• There will be a Show and parade of native breed equines, alpacas, and other equines and camelids of interest to smallholders.
• There will be a showcase of cattle breeds, and a stand featuring poultry
• You will have the opportunity to talk to breed societies and work out which breed is right for you.
• You can join our seminar and demonstration programme, which will be taking place over five different venues across the site.
• You will be able to view our Garden, Craft and Food competition and visit many stands featuring produce made on the smallholding.
• And you will be able to learn new skills at our Rural skills exhibition.

and is geared toward beekeepers who 

• have been keeping bees for a few years and are looking to develop their practical skills and knowledge further 
• have passed their Basic Beekeeping Certificate 
• are ready to pass on their skills for the benefit of others.
