- Location: International
- Industry: Agriculture
- Job type: Full-time, Fixed term, Temporary

The Company:
The dairy farm is owned and run by Moira and Adrian Rees. Before emigrating to Australia two years ago, Adrian farmed in Pembrokeshire, Wales for many years on his own 300 cow farm. Moira currently works as a full time vet in mixed practice and also worked in Carmarthenshire for a number of years, so there is a good understanding of both systems.
We are currently 50:50 share farming, milking 750 cows on the North West coast of Tasmania in an extensive spring calving system, New Zealand style. Calving starts in August over a condensed 10 week calving block.
The Role:
The position starts in July though an earlier start can be accommodated. The role covers all aspects of dairy farming including milking, bale feeding, calf rearing, and disbudding plus we do all our own breeding programs and AI. There will also be the opportunity to gain more experience in grass management.
The Candidate:
We are very passionate about what we do, with high standards and a keen focus on cow health and welfare and are looking for someone with a good work ethic, attention to detail and a real passion for cows to join us. We also actively encourage learning and participation in local discussion groups and training which run frequently through DairyTas.
