Precision Beef
This is a project co-funded by Innovate UK and working in partnership with Gilden Photonics, Keenan, Silent Herdsman (now Afimilk), Harbro and Morrisons.
There are two output streams from this project:
- Silent Herdsman collar to detect eating and rumination
- Keenan feed wagon with in-built NIR feed analysis of TMRs
The project has a combined decision support system looking at:
- Feeding behaviour
- Feed intake
- Feed analysis (dry matter, crude protein, energy, starch etc.)
- Combine with animal weights to measure efficiency
