Churches
Glasgow is home to a vibrant and diverse Christian community, including many churches that reflect and celebrate African and Caribbean traditions. These churches offer a welcoming space for students to connect spiritually, meet others from similar backgrounds, and find support during their time in Scotland.
Glasgow International Church is a multicultural, inter-denominational church with a strong community of African and international students. Services are lively, worship is contemporary, and the atmosphere is welcoming and supportive. Regular social events and student outreach included.
House of Hope Church (RCCG Glasgow) is a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), one of the largest Christian movements in Africa. This church hosts a large Nigerian and Ghanaian community, with dynamic worship, prayer sessions, and support groups for students and young adults.
Living Waters International Church is a Pentecostal church with a strong African congregation and a welcoming environment for international students. Offers mentoring, community support, and student ministries.

Mosques
Glasgow is home to a welcoming and diverse Muslim community, supported by a range of mosques and Islamic centres across the city. These mosques cater to both Sunni and Shia traditions and offer daily prayers, Jumu'ah (Friday) prayers, Islamic classes, community events, and social support.
The Glasgow Central Mosque is the largest and most well-known in the city, located near the River Clyde. It hosts regular worship, community services, and educational programmes. Other notable mosques include Al-Furqan Mosque in the West End, Masjid Khizra, and Madrasa Taleem-Ul-Islam, each serving local neighbourhoods and student populations.
Many mosques are student-friendly, with inclusive atmospheres and volunteer opportunities. Some also offer free or low-cost meals, especially on Fridays or during Ramadan. Students are encouraged to visit, attend events, and become part of the local Muslim community while studying in Glasgow.

Hindu temples
Glasgow has a small but active Hindu community supported by a few key temples that serve as centres for worship, cultural connection, and community gatherings.
The Hindu Mandir Glasgow, located in the West End, is the city’s main temple. It offers daily pooja, weekly aarti, bhajan sessions, and celebrates major Hindu festivals like Diwali and Navratri. The temple also hosts educational and cultural events and welcomes students who wish to participate or volunteer.
The Hindu Temple of Scotland, located just outside central Glasgow in Rutherglen, is especially active in South Indian traditions. It provides regular services, language classes, and a free vegetarian meal (prasadam) on Sundays after morning pooja.
The Pashupatinath Temple located in Paisley, is dedicated to Lord Pashupatinath, a revered deity in Nepal. It serves as a spiritual and cultural centre for the Nepalese community, offering regular worship services and community events. The temple welcomes visitors of all backgrounds to experience the rich traditions and spiritual significance of Nepalese Hinduism.

Gurdwaras
Glasgow is home to two main Gurdwaras that warmly welcome students and visitors from all backgrounds:
Glasgow Gurdwara is Scotland’s largest purpose-built Sikh temple. Open daily with free vegetarian meals (Langar), prayer services, and volunteering opportunities.
Central Gurdwara Singh Sabha is one of the city's oldest Gurdwaras, offering regular services, community events, and language classes.
Both Gurdwaras offer free meals, peaceful prayer spaces, and a friendly community. You’re welcome to visit, observe, or take part.
