Partnerships
SRUC’s bee advisor collaborates with multiple organisations interested in bee health. These organisations are all members of the Bee Health Improvement Partnership.
Bee Health Improvement Partnership
The Bee Health Improvement Partnership (BHIP) is made up of representatives from the organisations below. It aims to enhance the health and sustainability of honey bee populations in Scotland through collaboration among stakeholders and the implementation of the Scottish Government’s Honey Bee Health Strategy.
See "The Role of the Bee Team" Powerpoint in our education page to learn more.
Scottish Beekeepers' Association
The purpose of the Scottish Beekeepers' Association (SBA) is to support honey bees and beekeepers, to improve the standard of beekeeping, and to promote honey bee products in Scotland through:
- The advancement of education in relation to the craft of beekeeping.
- The advancement of environmental protection by conservation of the honeybee.
- The advancement of the heritage, culture and science of beekeeping.
Bee Farmers' Association
The Bee Farmers’ Association is the voice of professional beekeeping in the United Kingdom (UK). As the industry trade association, it currently represents around 500 bee farming businesses. Its members produce honey throughout the UK and supply products in bulk, for wholesale and for retail. In addition, the association provides contract pollination services to growers.
National Diploma in Beekeeping
The Examination Board for the National Diploma in Beekeeping was established in 1954, to meet a need for a beekeeping qualification, above the level of the Certificates awarded by the Beekeeping Associations.
