The Job:

We are looking for a self employed part time gardener to work in our lovely 11 acre garden in central Edinburgh, alongside the garden manager and volunteer. The role will involve a large mix of gardening skills, grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, weeding, as well as general maintenance such as bin emptying and garden furniture care.

The Company:

Regent gardens is one of the largest Edinburgh New Town gardens still in private ownership. The design consists of 7 acres of lawn and 5 acres of flanking natural wooded areas planted with spring bulbs There is a voluntary garden committee whom the garden manager reports to, they largely manage any annual events. There is also a tree group that the garden manager meets with 3 or 4 times a year to discuss any aspects of planting throughout the garden. It is a friendly community with a real mix of members from the surrounding terraces and natural neighbourhood.

The Candidate:

  • A keen interest in gardening and good knowledge of plants and gardening practices.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to work on their own as well as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and observational skills.
  • A qualification in horticulture is desirable but not essential.
