The Job:

We are seeking passionate individuals with a commitment to animal welfare to join our team as an Animal Welfare Carer at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.

As an Animal Welfare Carer you'll work to the Home's code of practice and Health and Safety guidelines, to provide exemplary daily care for the dogs and cats and educate potential new owners and the general public in the care and welfare of their animals, establishing excellent customer relations for the centre.

The Company:

The Home has been a safe haven to stray animals since 1883, and still rescues over a thousand lost or abandoned dogs and cats every year. The Home benefits from skills and experience of our 50+ strong staff, comprised of long-serving kennel and cattery experts and enthusiastic new talent. Our small team is united by the love and dedication towards the animals in our care, and the belief that any dog or cat that comes to our door, whatever the reason, should be safe, warm, and well-fed.

The Candidate:

You'll excel as a communicator, adept at showing empathy towards both humans and animals. As a collaborative team member, you'll bring abundant energy and a positive outlook. Strong organisational and time-management skills will help you thrive in this busy, fast-paced environment. With experience in animal handling and a solid grasp of basic behaviour and health concerns, you'll be dedicated to Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home's mission. This role demands meticulous work, a keen eye for detail, and a deep commitment to animal welfare principles.
