Coming from farming stock I’m delighted to be part of the Rural Management team at Craibstone SRUC.

Prior to joining academia, I had a successful career in hotel management. Prior to joining SRUC my previous university employment was in the area of Tourism, and I’m now particularly interested in entrepreneurship in rural business. My PhD considered management styles and their fit with business models, work I’d like to apply to the rural environment. I’ve published widely in the broad area of destination development.

Away from academia I write a monthly motoring column for the Press and Journal, am Chair of Braemar Castle Limited, and commentate on events throughout the north-east of Scotland, from Scotland’s Traditional Boat Festival at Portsoy, to all events at Grampian Transport Museum at Alford.
