The Company:

The RSPB is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature. We bring people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. We carry out conservation on a large scale, protect and restore habitats, and save species from extinction. As an RSPB employee, you will be helping to save nature every time you come to work. There’s never been a more important time to protect our wildlife and wild places, so we want to make sure you feel rewarded for everything you help us to achieve.

The Candidate:

• Experience and knowledge of handling livestock, in particular calving and lambing and administration of veterinary medicines
• Shepherding experience with good working dogs
• Experience of tractors, sit astride ATVs and general farm machinery operation
• Commitment to the highest standards of livestock care and welfare
• Agricultural qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience of working in an upland/hill farm setting and remote location
• Experience of general farm work and estate maintenance
• Able to work long, physically demanding hours over challenging clifftop terrain
• Ability to safely operate and maintain machinery and equipment.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Team working
• Machinery and power tools certification
• Fencing and shearing skills
• Some knowledge and/or experience of conservation management.
