The Job:

With the retirement of the existing Conservation Officer in Autumn 2025, the Trustees are seeking someone to lead on the delivery and development of the Trust’s conservation work and associated projects. In line with PKCT strategy and working with other PKCT Staff, Trustees and Partners the individual will support maintaining, restoring and enhancing biodiversity and species conservation, while helping people to enjoy the excitement and wonder of Perthshire’s countryside and cherish it for future generations.

The Company:

Founded in 1997, Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT) is an independent charity that negotiates access to land, builds paths, helps care for Scotland’s most spectacular woodlands and trees, and works on conservation projects all to improve and promote access to the countryside for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

We work in partnership with other organisations and community groups to help make Perthshire one of the most accessible destinations in Scotland.

The Candidate:

Experience

  • at least 2 years working in this field
  • evidence of stakeholder engagement and networking
  • project management and reporting.

Knowledge

  • nature conservation and countryside/ land management, recreation and access (particularly in Scotland, ideally Perth & Kinross specific)
  • general biodiversity, species & habitat ecology
  • project planning
  • project funding & fundraising systems and processes.

Skills

  • management of projects including basic accounting
  • field skills in UK species / habitat projects
  • self motivated and good at managing own time and outcomes
  • strategic thinking and connected delivery
  • succinct accurate reporting
  • good communication skills (in English)
  • partnership working
  • teamwork.
