Living in Aberdeen
SRUC's Craibstone campus is about five miles from the centre of Aberdeen, Scotland’s third-largest city with a quarter of a million people, two major universities and several colleges of further and higher education.
Aberdeen is a cosmopolitan and friendly place, with an impressive array of shopping, sports and social facilities. Worth a visit are The Maritime Museum, St. Machars Cathedral, Aberdeen Science Centre, Aberdeen Art Gallery, The Tolbooth, Gordon Highlanders Museum and Pitmedden Gardens and Museum of Farming Life.
Many of the highest mountains in the UK are a short drive away in the Highlands. There are long beaches and picturesque coastlines to enjoy and over half of Scotland’s whisky distilleries are in this region. You can also take to the waves on a boat trip to visit the dolphins that skirt the fringes of the busy harbour.
Aberdeenshire is steeped in history, with more castles per acre than anywhere else in the UK. It's also home to Scotland’s only dedicated Castle trail, with a selection of 17 unique castles.
