Year 2 builds on the scientific and operational foundations established in Year 1, advancing your knowledge to Diploma level. The focus shifts towards applied agronomy, integrated pest management , and strategic golf operations. You will develop a deeper understanding of turfgrass nutrition, soil-water relationships, pest and disease management, and the ecological factors influencing the golf course through changing climates.
Greater emphasis is placed on sustainability and long-term planning, exploring how resource efficiency, climate resilience, and biodiversity considerations shape modern golf course management. You will examine how data and performance monitoring inform maintenance decisions and how evidence-based practice supports high standards of playability and presentation.
Alongside technical development, you will strengthen your management and leadership skills, considering budgeting, planning, team coordination, and communication within golf facilities. Research and analytical skills are further developed, enabling you to interpret data, apply appropriate analytical tools, and make informed operational decisions.
By the end of the Diploma year, you will have the technical confidence and applied understanding required to progress into the third year of the BSc in Sustainable Golf Management and enhanced supervisory roles within the golf course management sector.
This course is also offered as a Golf Development pathway.
