Aberdeen and Northern Marts, one of Scotland’s leading and most progressive auction companies are looking to appoint a Sheep Supervisor to join their existing livestock team at Thainstone Mart, Inverurie.
This role would be a perfect fit for someone who is keen to co-ordinate a team, is hands-on, energetic & has attention to detail.
A newly created job share, covering the working week along with a 2nd Sheep Supervisor. Hours will often be spread across less days, as sale days can be long.
A comprehensive Training & Development Programme will be provided, along with attractive renumeration.

The Candidate:
- Natural team leader with ability to organise staff as required
- Sound knowledge and experience of handling sheep
- Knowledge of animal welfare standards
- Awareness of Health and Safety for staff and customers
- Ability to prioritise and organise busy workload in a fast paced environment
- A strong ability to work as part of a team whilst also working on your own initiative
- Good communication skills
- Valid UK driving licence required
- Experience driving quad bikes and handling farm equipment would be advantageous but not essential
- This position involves working long days with some weekend working on a rota.
About the role:
Reporting to the Yard Manager, this is a key role within the yard.
Duties include:
- dealing with the lairaging of stock, both pre- and post-sale
- moving of stock around the mart on sale days
- ensuring that staff are in place to keep the process moving
- dealing with livestock documentation in relation to record keeping
- ensuring compliance with existing market legislation.
Welfare of animals is paramount at all times.
