Chair of SRUC Board steps down

The Chair of the SRUC Board has announced that she will be resigning with effect from September 2025, for personal reasons.

Linda Hanna made history when she was elected in March 2022, becoming SRUC’s first ever female Chair.

Her official last day will follow the Board meeting on 11 September. At that point, following an appropriate process, an interim Chair will be appointed, and we will begin the process of electing a new Chair.

Professor Wayne Powell, Principal and Chief Executive of SRUC, said: “On behalf of everyone connected with SRUC, I would like to thank Linda for her significant contribution to this organisation over the past three years.

“We have gone through an extraordinary period of change and growth during Linda’s tenure, including gaining Taught Degree Awarding Powers and opening Scotland’s first school of veterinary medicine in more than 150 years. We wish Linda all the very best for the future.”

Linda Hanna said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed and count as a privilege the opportunity to Chair the Board at SRUC over the last three years. SRUC is such an amazing organisation, full of committed and talented staff and students eager to make a difference for our world. I wish them all every success in the next stage of SRUC’s journey.”

Before joining SRUC, Linda spent 30 years at Scottish Enterprise, most recently as Managing Director of Innovation and Investment. She was made an MBE in the 2023 New Year’s Honours List for services to the Scottish Business Community.
