I am an economic and policy consultant in the Food and Enterprise team in SAC Consulting. I joined the Rural Business Unit at SAC in January 2019, working on a variety of economic and rural development studies, the impact of Brexit and changing subsidies on Scottish agriculture, and contributing to SAC’s Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) funded publications, Agribusiness News and the Farm Management Handbook.

Since moving to the Food and Enterprise team I’ve continued much of this work, alongside specialising in low carbon and circular economies and emerging carbon markets. I also work on policy development, including coordinating SAC Consulting’s specialist advice to Scottish Government on a range of relevant issues or programmes within Scottish agriculture.

I’m part of the Agrecalc team, SAC’s farm carbon and resource footprinting tool. My role involves developing the tool for a range of users, and delivering carbon services and advice to public and private sectors.

I enjoy finding ways to make sustainability an advantage for farming and the environment, from a practical perspective as much as an economic one. I am helping the industry to build roadmaps to low carbon and net zero targets.

Outside of work I play the fiddle in traditional music sessions, like to go hiking in the hills and explore Scotland in my little campervan.
