SRUC

Agriculture and poultry production courses at SRUC are not just about farming or farm management; they consider the wider agri-food industry, with the focus on production agriculture as well as related issues such as environmental and countryside protection and animal welfare.

They consider the wider agri-food industry, with the focus on production agriculture as well as related issues such as environmental and countryside protection and animal welfare.

The agricultural and poultry industries are primarily concerned with the production of basic foodstuffs on farms, but also include the supply of inputs for farming such as fertiliser, seeds, animal feed and machinery.

Accounting for over 10 per cent of employment and Gross Domestic Product, the agri-food industry is an integration of agriculture with other sectors of the food chain, such as processing, distribution and retailing.
