When Andrew Lacey arrived at the end of last year to the role of Head of SAC Consulting Solutions, one of his first challenges was to develop an organisational structure to meet future needs.
A new team of four Business Managers was created on 9 April 2018, all are now all in post. This is a development from the previous management structure and the roles will now focus on distinct areas of the business rather than geographical areas. This structure will strengthen the organisation by giving us a consistent approach throughout Scotland that compliments the wider SRUC strategic approach. In particular we have put in place roles that focus on technical expertise, collaboration and integration with industry while retaining and strengthening our public sector services.
The Business Managers will play a vital role in helping SAC Consulting to develop the business to be responsive to our existing clients, develop the role of our expert specialists as leaders in their field, create new products and opportunities and finally to develop our nationally funded advisory contracts.
The new team of Business Managers and the areas they cover are as follows:
- Rural Offices - George Baikie
- Products and Commercial Development - Iain Riddell
- Specialists - Gavin Hill
- Programmes Manager - Andrew Bauer
George takes on a slightly altered role from previous of Business Manager for the South and Central Regions. Instead, George will take responsibility for all the Rural Offices and manage a new team of three Regional Business Managers who are tasked with developing our excellent team who run our 23 Consulting Offices across the country.
Iain moves from his position as Business Manager Specialists to take up a role to forge stronger links to the SRUC Faculties and Research and will also develop our existing products and services. Iain should be the first port of call for links with Solutions across SRUC and where commercial opportunities need to be developed.
We have promoted from within and Gavin takes over as Business Manager for our specialist consultants nationally. As senior beef specialist and recent leader of the Beef & Sheep Select team, Gavin is a nationally recognised expert in beef production systems both in terms of technical efficiency and financial performance of all beef enterprises.
Lastly, we balance the team and look for insight from outside of SRUC, strengthening our team with Andrew Bauer, who brings a wealth of public policy knowledge from his time as Deputy Director Policy with NFU Scotland. Andrew will take responsibility for delivery of our national consulting contracts, such as the Farm Advisory Service.
We welcome them all to their new roles and look forward to hearing more from them as their roles develop.
