SRUC’s Vicki Munro - one of Fife’s leading figures in hospitality education - has reached the final stages of a prestigious national competition.
Vicki, who is Professional Cookery Programme Leader and also a chef/lecturer at Elwood, is one of three finalists in the Hospitality Educator of the Year category in the CIS Excellence Awards 2017.
The awards recognise exceptionally high degrees of creativity, innovation and excellence in Scottish catering, hospitality and tourism.
Aimed at all types of established and emerging businesses and individuals involved in these sectors, the CIS Excellence Awards are positioned as the industry’s ultimate accolade.
Vicki said: “I was overwhelmed by the nomination, and lost for words when I found out that I had reached the final three when there is so much talent and so many inspirational bodies in our sector.”
The other finalists are Gary Maclean of City of Glasgow College (the reigning BBC MasterChef:The Professionals champion), and Tony Budde, of Dumfries and Galloway College.
The Hospitality Educator of the Year category is sponsored by CH&CO group. The awards ceremony will be held at Hilton Glasgow on Thursday May 25th.
Apart from her role at Elmwood, Vicki is joint chair of the Scottish Hospitality Tourism Association and a board member of the Federation of Chefs Scotland.
