SRUC’s library staff recently hosted a visit from one of our ERASMUS partner institutions, HAMK University of Applied Sciences in Southern Finland.
Five members of
staff visited SRUC’s Edinburgh and Ayr Campuses as part of the staff mobility programme
which allows staff at HE institutions to visit international organisations as part of their professional
development and training.
The group spent time at both campuses to see the
library facilities and learn about the collections, both printed and electronic,
and to hear more about best practice in library operations and management.
Of particular interest was information literacy and
how this is delivered in both institutions. The visit highlighted the
similarities between the institutions and it was a valuable opportunity to
develop international links.
The group consisted of three library staff and two
members of the University’s education support services. The Librarians joined an
information literacy session being given to horticulture students at Edinburgh,
whilst the Education Support Staff met with several colleagues from the Ayr and
Edinburgh campuses to strengthen the ERASMUS links and to identify ways to prepare
our students for exchange in Finland and vice versa.
