HND Bioscience
Campus: SRUC Riverside, Ayr
"The lecturers have been very helpful and empathetic with the situation at hand and have gone the extra mile to cater to students' needs. I most value the different approaches to learning and the friendships made between my classmates and my lecturers."
Sophia Germain chose to study Bioscience at SRUC’s Ayr campus because it incorporated all the things she is interested in, including biology, animal science and environmental issues.
Like many students, the 20-year-old from Ayr found the changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic challenging, but having completed an HND, she is now going on to do an Ecological and Environmental Sciences course at The University of Edinburgh.
“The lecturers have been very helpful and empathetic with the situation at hand and have gone the extra mile to cater to students' needs,” she said.
“Reflecting on my time spent at SRUC, I most value the different approaches to learning and the friendships made between my classmates and my lecturers.”
In addition to her studies Sophia, who enjoys painting and spending time with her dogs, has also been kept busy volunteering in the community, working in the care sector and was also student ambassador for the Ayr campus.
