Research interests

I am currently a quantitative scientist, working as part of the data management team for EPIC (Epidemiology, Population health and Infectious disease Control). This involves maintenance and management of the EPIC data repository which currently contains a wide range of datasets including livestock population data, animal movement and diagnostic testing data from a variety of sources (Scottish Government, APHA, ScotEID and other stakeholders). I am also currently involved in evaluating the available sources of sheep demographic and movement data to better understand the sheep population dynamics in
Scotland.

My background is in molecular virology and previous research interests have included replication and assembly of bluetongue virus, molecular epidemiology of livestock viruses (Orbiviruses and Foot and Mouth Disease Virus) and the cellular biology of a specialised class of membrane bound transcription factors.
