Pick your pumpkins at Duncan's!
With Hallowe'en just around the corner, alumnus Duncan McEwen, an Agriculture graduate from the Class of 2005 (Edinburgh), is getting ready for Arnprior Farms pumpkin extravaganza.
It all started in 2015, when Duncan and his wife Rebecca started experimenting growing pumpkins on their sheep and arable farm in Arnprior, near Stirling. That autumn they opened their farm to the public to come and pick their own pumpkins. The first day was a massive success, and they sold out of pumpkins by the next morning! Duncan and Rebecca managed to source 600 more british grown pumpkins so as not to disappoint visitors who continued to turn up in droves.
Arnprior Pumpkins has gone from strength to strength and will once again be opening their farm for pumpkin picking by customers.
As well as picking your own pumpkin, the McEwens have expanded the experience so that a number of countryside activities are on offer for visitors, including: kale maze, turnip pull, local food & drink, chainsaw demos, alpaca trekking, and craft workshops.
Duncan is looking forward to visitors coming back to the farm. He told us "It's a bit wet here!" so remember to bring your wellies!
