Coupled Beef and Sheep Schemes

The Scottish Government are using coupled payments to support the beef and sheep sectors.

Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme

Payments will be made on owned or leased homebred calves that are at least 75% beef bred.  Estimated payment rates on the mainland will be around €100 per eligible calf and around €160 per eligible calf on the islands; actual payment rates will depend on the total number of eligible calves claimed.

Scottish Upland Sheep Support Scheme

To qualify for the scheme, 80% or more of the agricultural land must be in Payment Region 3 and less than 200 hectares of the agricultural land must be in Payment Region 1.  Payments will be made on homebred ewe hoggs.  Estimated payment rates will be around €100/hogg; actual payment will depend on the total number of eligible hoggs claimed.
