In summer 2012, the Scottish Government asked SAC to undertake a study to identify next steps towards the establishment of a Rural Parliament in Scotland in September 2013.
This followed on from earlier work undertaken by SAC to review existing European Rural Parliaments (published in early 2012), a national seminar in May 2012 and a follow-up steering group meeting in June 2012.
The study reviews stakeholder views expressed at the May seminar and reports the results of further stakeholder interviews carried out in July and August 2012. The report suggests a series of next steps towards the inaugural Rural Parliament in Scotland in September 2013.
