The tagging of sheep and cattle has been used in the livestock industry for over 60years. It's only in the past 5years that the compulsory tagging of sheep with Electronic Identification (EID) tags has been introduced.
This policy briefing discusses the how this regulation that many have seen as burdensome could be used as a potential planning and management tool.
In addition to this Policy Briefing the Hill and Mountain Research Centre researchers have also investigated the barriers to the uptake of EID for sheep management. The findings of this work can also be found below
