Connect Local is the Scottish Government’s local food and drink marketing advisory service. This is a collaborative project managed by SAC Consulting Food & Drink and delivered by SAC Consulting Food & Drink, SAOS, Scotland Food & Drink and Seafood Scotland. With a growth in the importance of provenance and the opportunity afforded by short supply chains, Connect Local is helping to grow the local food and drink economy from food producers, farm shops and farmers markets, to restaurants, B&Bs, delis and a range of other outlets.
Connect Local, and earlier projects including its predecessor project Think Local, have helped to substantially grow Scotland’s local food and drink market. In its first two years Connect Local worked with 40 regional and sector specific food groups, assisted 598 trading introductions, delivered 39 business growth workshops, gave business start-up, scaling up & growth advice to 236 businesses and helped 90 new businesses. There were also 15,000 unique visits to the website www.connectlocal.scot for business support and advice, 268 days worth of watch time for Seafood Scotland recipe videos and 1.26M opportunities to see Seafood Scotland promotional activity.
