Senior Environmental Consultant
My work is on the Farming for a Better Climate (FFBC) initiative within SAC Consulting. This Scottish Government funded initiative is aimed at helping farmers identify business benefits through better use of resources. The initiative works with four ‘climate change focus farmers’ and local discussion groups to explore practical steps farmers can consider to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from their farm. To find out more visit our Climate Change Focus Farms pages.
Through the FFBC initiative, I am involved with a range of activities, for example organising workshops and demonstration events across Scotland to maintaining content on the FFBC web pages which includes the production of practical guides and quarterly newsletter. The web pages suggest practical steps to benefit the farm business whilst reducing the loss of greenhouse gases. I am also the author of the 4 Point Plan (4PP) and Farm Soils Plan (FSP) plus accompanying training courses produced through a partnership project. The 4PP and FSP form two good practice guides that suggest ways to reduce diffuse pollution risks from routine agricultural practices whilst also benefiting the farm business. More details are available on my staff profile.
