Behavioural Change & Innovation Group

Background

Behaviour Change & Innovation GroupA significant barrier to adoption of low carbon technologies is behavioural change.  The aim of the Carbon Management Centre Behaviours Group is to explore what influences decision making and what barriers exist for the adoption of carbon-saving techniques.

We believe these questions should be approached from multiple disciplines and the behaviours group consists of experts in economic, social, psychological and extension-based disciplines, which is bolstered by our extensive network of on-farm advisors

Our research aims to create real behavioural change within the land use sector by examining how best to understand and communicate these issues and, also, ensure trust within the messages being provided.  Our work is global, but a number of our studies focus within the Scotland, which has some of the most ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets in the world.
