Coronavirus (COVID-19) update.

Borrow, Renew, Return

Borrowing Items

Library items may be borrowed at the issue desk at each campus. At Riverside Campus there are also two self-service kiosks for issuing and returning items – please follow the instructions on the screens or ask for help at the issue desk. At all campuses you must have your matriculation card or staff ID card to borrow items. If you are a partnership institution, an external, or Sconul access member, please see below.

Items must be returned by the date/time stamped on the date label or on the receipt if you have issued the item yourself. Please ensure that you write the date on the date label if you renew by phone or online. You must not lend any item you have borrowed to anyone else as you will be held responsible for it. Overdue fines are charged for the late return of items.

Borrowing Entitlements

You may borrow any item from any SRUC library (subject to local requirements) no matter which campus you may be based at.

Entitlements do vary for the following:

  • Students
  • Postgraduate Students
  • SRUC Staff
  • Edinburgh University Staff and Students
  • Fife College
  • UWS Staff and Students
  • Sconul Access Borrowers

For further information, please visit Borrowing Entitlements.

Managing your Loans

You can see what you have on loan and other details by logging into My Account.

Reminder Notices

The system will automatically send a reminder to your email address (official SRUC email unless otherwise notified – students may forward to their personal email addresses if required) the day before items are due. A further 3 Emails are sent after the due date if items are not returned. If you are not a member of SRUC then you will be required to give a valid email address when registering. If you don’t have an email account then reminders will be sent by post – please be aware that this may result in delays, especially for the pre-overdue date reminder.
