Woodland, Waterfall & Gorge Walk (1.5km) - easy, waymarked path
The trees in this Scots pine woodland were planted about 30 years ago. Native birch, rowan, ash, hazel and aspen can also be seen along the river. The pines were thinned out in March 1999 to create a more open woodland. As a result, there is now an abundance of rowan seedlings growing in the area.
At the lower waterfall viewpoint, you can see a solitary Sessile Oak tree clinging to the rock face. The waterfall cuts away at the Mica Schist rock, the shiny flakes of which can be seen in the river bed further up stream.
