We offer an Equine Diagnostic Service for all types of horses, ponies and donkeys across the UK. Clients include racing stables and eventing yards as well as individual horse owners.

Our Services

Post Mortem Examination

Post mortem examinations and abortion investigations can be carried out.

Histopathology and Cytology

Our histopathologists provide specialist reports on biopsies, post mortem samples, aspirates and body fluids.

Clinical Pathology

A full range of biochemical and haemotological tests and hormone assays is available for diagnostic purposes and health monitoring.

Microbiology

Services cover bacteriology, mycology and virology. Contagious equine metritis (CEM) testing and certification is carried out by our CEM Approved Laboratory at St Boswells.

Molecular Biology

PCR testing is available for a range of infectious agents, including Lawsonia intracellularis.

Serology

Tests for diagnostic and screening purposes are available for a range of bacterial and viral diseases.

Parasitology

Routine worm egg counts, coccidial oocyst and fluke detection are performed at local centre.

Premium Assured Strangles Scheme (PASS)

Membership of the health scheme helps to protect yards and horses from Strangles, through a combination of screening and biosecurity.

Consulting

The following Equine Services are also available to veterinary surgeons and their clients:
