SACCVS Aberdeen Monthly Regional Surveillance

May 2016 

Aberdeen received 357 samples from cattle, pigs and sheep in May (excluding BVD monitoring), relating to 151 cases. 46 cases were for monitoring healthy stock or screening tests, leaving 105 diagnostic submissions.

At least one associated condition (VIDA diagnosis) was recorded for 50% of the diagnostic submissions overall (2014/15 average 46%), and for 86% of non-foetal post-mortem submissions (18/21 cases; 2014/15 average 77%).

Abortion

Bacillus licheniformis (1), Hereditary/Developmental Abnormalities (1).

Diarrhoea

Cryptosporidiosis (4), Rotavirus disease (2), Johne's Disease (2), Coccidiosis (1), Colibacillosis - Enteric - K99 +ve (1), PGE (1).

Eye

Malignant catarrhal fever (1). 

Found Dead

Pneumonia (9), Hypogammaglobulinaemia (1), Colisepticaemia (1), BNP (1), Pulpy Kidney (1), Navel ill (1), Trauma (1), Abomasal ulceration (1), Coccidiosis (1), Intestinal torsion (1), Neonatal hypothermia/ starvation (1), Poisoning from chemicals (1), Poisoning from plants (1), Rotavirus disease (1), Trauma: Predation (1). 

Malaise

Actinobacillus suis infection (1), Colisepticaemia (1), Pneumonia NOS (1).

Mastitis clin

Mastitis dt Mannheimia haemolytica (1), Mastitis dt Staphylococcus NOS (1).

Circulatory disease (1), Johne‚Äôs disease (1).
