The purpose of the programme was to provide food businesses with the necessary competence, skills and knowledge to achieve their growth ambitions through innovation, adding value, new market developments and quality improvements.
The training programme, designed and delivered by our Food & Drink team with delivery input from industry experts, involved a series of workshops and a best practice visits.
Workshops covered a variety of topics and were designed to provide practical working sessions, while also encouraging networking between producers.

Best practice visits included trips to Fisher & Donaldson, Connage Highland Dairy, The Really Garlicky Company, MacKay’s and St Andrew’s Farmhouse Cheese which provided a practical illustration of issues discussed at the workshops.
Thirty-eight participants have taken part in the programme over 2009 and 2010 and companies represented have ranged from small start-ups to well established larger organisations.
