I am the Knowledge Exchange (KE) Officer for EPIC (Centre for Expertise on Animal Disease Outbreaks) supporting and recording KE activity, as well as managing the project website and social media accounts.
I have a scientific background in molecular virology having carried out my PhD (The Role of VP7(T13) in Initiation of Infection by Bluetongue Virus) at the Pirbright Institute in Surrey. This was followed by a 4 year post-doc appointment at the Virus Assembly Lab - Marie Curie Research Institute studying intracellular transport of HSV-1 tegument proteins.
After a career break for house renovation, I took a position at the personal lines insurer esure as an underwriting analyst. This included involvement as a technical workstream lead in the product launch of Sheilas’ Wheels motor insurance. I have also worked for the large German insurer Allianz on an international best practice initiative for motor insurance. Through this work I achieved a blue belt in the process improvement methodology Six Sigma. In addition, I also helped launch their motor insurance offering on numerous aggregator sites which included a redesign of the products quote and buy website.
When not at work I love enjoying the Highland countryside with my yellow lab, Lloyd.
