Research interests

Main interest in application of genetics and genomics for improvement of small ruminants along with conservation of genetic resources. This encompasses development of breeding programs, implementation of genomic selection and search for genes involved in economically important health and production traits. This includes work on TSB funded project to explore the use of caprine SNP chip.

Selected research projects

  • Genomic predictions of mastitis resistance in dairy goats using computational genomics.
Project funded by Innovate UK (Agritech Catalyst). Years 2015 – 2018.
  • Exploitation of genomic technologies for sustainable intensification of dairy goats.
Project funded by Innovate UK (Agri-tech Catalyst). Years 2015 – 2018.
  • Efficient goat breeding for sustainable milk production.
Project funded by Technology Strategy Board (TSB). Years 2012 – 2015.
