The garden commemorates the 450th anniversary of one of Scotland’s most infamous unresolved crimes: the murder of Lord Darnley the husband of Mary Queen of Scots, in 1567.
The crime not only had political repercussions for the future of the monarchy but also has particular relevance to horticulture as an illustration of the crime scene was commissioned resulting in the earliest pictorial evidence of a garden in Scotland.
