Aberdeen Holiday Lets

Hostel Accommodation – Craibstone Campus, Aberdeen

Craibstone Campus in Scotland’s North East is set in 800 acres of glorious woodlands, providing a quiet and relaxing base where you can unwind by exploring the secluded grounds and enjoying the woodland walks and wildlife-watching.

5 minutes from Aberdeen Airport and 5 miles north from Aberdeen city centre, Craibstone allows easy access to the ‘Granite City’ which has something for everyone, with its striking granite architecture and rich and inspiring history.  The city centre is packed with cafes, restaurants, bars and nightlife.  If you’re in to comedy, visit Breakneck Comedy Club which is located in the city centre and is the biggest in Scotland – open weekly from Thursday-Sunday offering a variety of comedians.  The Maritime Museum, St Machar’s Cathedral, Aberdeen Science Centre, Aberdeen Art Gallery, The Tolbooth, Aberdeen and the Gordon Highlanders Museum are worth a visit for those interested in the history and culture of the Granite City including Hidden Aberdeen Tours for exploring the city’s history under your feet and on your doorstep. The more adventurous can take to the waves on a boat trip with Aberdeen Harbour Tours, to visit the dolphins that skirt the fringes of the busy harbour.  There is also an outstanding theatre, award winning museums, impressive art galleries and a choice of cinemas.

Families enjoy Codonas Amusement Park down at the Beach Esplanade, along with Aberdeen Beach.

The surrounding area has a number of ‘must see’ attractions including the picturesque fishing village of Footdee and the impressive Dunnottar Castle and Crathes Castle and Gardens to name but a few.  Craibstone Estate is also linked to the ‘Four Hills’ walk, which can be used for running and keep fit.  Kirkhill Forest close by offers an excellent technical mountain bike course and also a great walking/running challenge.

The North East

Craibstone is well placed for touring much of the North East of Scotland.

Within an hours drive are:  Fyvie Castle, Haddo House, Pitmedden Gardens, Glengarioch Distillery, Grampian Transport Museum, Royal Deeside (including Balmoral Castle), Castle Fraser, Dean’s Shortbread Visitor Centre, Huntly Castle, Falconry Centre, Whisky, Castle, Coastal trails.  And there are golf courses galore!

There are more castles per acre in Aberdeenshire than anywhere else in the UK, providing a wealth of history to explore.  Aberdeenshire is home to Scotland’s only dedicated Castle Trail with a selection of 17 unique castles to explore.  A short journey away is Fowlsheugh and Troup Head where you can bird watch the puffins, guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes.  You might also spot grey seals in the water.
