Q: JOHNE'S: My Johne’s disease status is pending though I have completed my herd test, why?


There are a number of possible reasons for this and the most common reasons are:

  • No Johne’s health plan in place (Risk Plan form).
  • Last herd test appeared to be incomplete (ie not all labels were returned, insufficient sample on one or more animals, sample(s) stored for some reason).
  • Added animals on submission form were either not faecal tested or not identified that they came from R1 herds (when they don’t require testing for Johne’s at purchase).
  • Either the farmer or the vet has not signed the declarations on the herd test form.
