Climate change is of increasing global concern, and immediate action in reducing the levels of Greenhouse Gas emission is required.  A variety of innovative methods are being supported by Scottish Government such as the move from fossil fuels to renewable energy and electric / hybrid cars for instance.  To be able to track the effects this is having on Greenhouse Gas emissions cost effective monitoring is needed.  The use of bioindicators (living organisms that can be used to monitor the health of a natural environment) has been a  recognised monitoring practice for many years, and lichens in particular are effective in assessing environmental health in relation to changes in Greenhouse gas levels.

Join us for a practical workshop involving atmospheric quality testing using lichens and find out more about environment courses offered at SRUC. This workshop is free, suitable for those with no previous experience, and open to anyone.
