  • Update on green manure options sown on the farm.
  • Potential for new technology in the suckler herd.
  • Potential for new technology in arable crops.

The majority of this meeting will be held outdoors.  Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

David and Nicola Barron run Nether Aden farm, a mixed unit in Aberdeenshire. The farm covers 208 hectares where David rears and finishes 110 suckler cows.

Crops at Nether Aden include spring and winter barley, whole crop, winter wheat, winter oilseed rape plus grazing and silage ground. David has also made use of shelterbelts.

David and Nicola have volunteered to work a Climate Change Focus Farm within the Farming For A Better Climate project. Funded by the Scottish Government and supported by NFUS, the three year focus farm programme of events could help you reduce energy bills, realise the potential for renewables, improve grassland and farm soils and optimise nutrient use.  The programme of free meetings will have an arable, beef and grassland focus, however all farmers are welcome to attend.

If you want to know more about the programme, or would like to join the group but cannot attend this meeting, please contact Alan Bruce on 01888 563333 or email

Farming for a Better Climate is funded by the Scottish Government as part of the Farm Advisory Service (FAS).  The Climate Change Focus Farm programme is supported as part of its Veterinary and Advisory Service (VAS) legacy activities
