Two well known Fife cereal producers will add their practical experience of precision farming to revelations about the latest sensors, robotics and automation during a free arable farmers event.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Disease and fungicides: lessons learnt from 2016, messages for 2017
  • Variety choice: Key performers and what to look out for in 2017
  • Targeted markets and the market situation
  • An update on the new AgriTech Innovation Centres
  • How can precision agriculture aid soil health and carbon footprint?
  • Sensors, robotics and automation: what is to come?

With speakers from SRUC, Harper-Adams University, The Agricultural Engineering Precision Innovation (Agri-EPI) Centre and AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds, these roadshows aim to inspire, innovate and integrate new approaches to arable farming.

The meeting on Thursday 12 January begins at 10.00am after coffee and registration. It will finish at 3.30pm.

This event will be followed by one at Thainstone House, Aberdeenshire on Tuesday 17 January, 2017; and at Drumossie House, Inverness on Thursday 19 January, 2017. A similar event will be held in the Borders on 10 January. Each meeting will have contributions from local farmers.
