Overview
Rough terrain telescopic lift trucks provide greater ground clearance then a standard lift truck and are used on uneven ground, commonly within the land-based and construction industry, it has a similar appearance and function to a forklift truck, but due to its upwards and forwards reach abilities it is much more versatile.
Our training course is for anyone who uses or will be using a rough terrain telescopic lift truck (pallet and bulk) in either the land-based or construction industry. The course will allow you to develop the skills and knowledge required giving you the confidence to operate it safely.
The duration of this course varies depending on your level of experience from 1 day for refresher training to 5 days for novice operators.
What is Involved?
• Identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.
• Identify and comply with manufacturers’ instructions in accordance with the operator’s handbook, other information sources such as load charts and applicable regulations.
• Carry out all pre-use and running checks.
• Configure the telescopic material handler for site and road travel.
• Travel over differing types of terrain with and without a load.
• Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction, both with and without a load.
• Set the telescopic material handler in order to lift various loads.
• Lift and place various loads within the full working range of the telescopic material handler.
• Ensure load integrity and security.
• Place and retrieve loads accurately at various places.
• Place and retrieve loads from a vehicle bed or trailer.
• Keep within safe working parameters.
• Place the machine in an out-of-service condition.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however to undertake experienced operator or refresher training you must be able to show formal training and certification or relevant experience.

Cost
Novice Course (5 days): On SRUC Premises £840.00 per person
Experienced Course (3 days): On SRUC Premises £525.00 per person
Experienced Course (2 days): On SRUC Premises £370.00 per person
Refresher Course (1 day): On SRUC Premises £215.00 per person
Course fees include training, registration and certification fees. Catering and Refreshments are included for courses delivered on SRUC Campuses.
Please note there is no VAT on our training.
Funding
Important update
Individual Training Accounts will open on Monday 13 January 2020.
This phase of the scheme will accept up to 10,000 new applications.
SDS Individual Training Accounts (ITA)
You may be eligible for part funding to support the cost of this course.
Get up to £200 towards the cost of a training course with an SDS Individual Training Account (ITA).

How do I book?
To book a place on one of our courses, please complete and return the course booking form to the appropriate campus address or email address shown below. Course fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. Payments can be made over the phone using a debit/credit card, by cheque made payable to SRUC or by Bank Transfer (for bank transfer details please contact your chosen campus).
Cancellation
Cancellations must be made at least 10 working days prior to the course start date otherwise the full course fee is still payable. In the event that SRUC has to cancel a course for any reason your course fees will be refunded in full or your booking transferred to the next available date if this is suitable.
