SRUC Training Courses: Drystane Dyking

This is a five day training course leading to an SRUC Certificate of Attendance. It is suitable for farm or estate workers or anyone interested in a career change. This is an ideal beginner's course.

What is Involved?

Prepare for & Lay Foundations for Dry Stone Walls
Building & Packing of Dry Stone Walls
Place & Pack Throughstones Set & Secure Copestones/toppings
Strip Down Dry Stone Wall & Prepare for Rebuild

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However a good level of fitness is a necessity for this course.

Warm, waterproof old clothes
Rubber gardening gloves
Steel toe-capped Boots
Dyking Hammer

£535.00 per person. Course fees include training, assessment and registration fees. Please note there is no VAT on our training.

Individual Training Accounts will open on Monday 13 January 2020.

This phase of the scheme will accept up to 10,000 new applications.

SDS Individual Training Accounts (ITA)

You may be eligible for part funding to support the cost of this course.

Get up to £200 towards the cost of a training course with an SDS Individual Training Account (ITA).

You could use the money to build the skills you need for a job. Or get some training to take your career to the next level. Whatever you want to do, there is a wide range of ITA approved courses on offer.
And because it's not a loan you don't have to pay it back.

How do I book?

To book a place on one of our courses, please complete and return the course booking form to the appropriate campus address or email address shown below. Course fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. Payments can be made over the phone using a debit/credit card, by cheque made payable to SRUC or by Bank Transfer (for bank transfer details please contact your chosen campus).


Cancellations must be made at least 10 working days prior to the course start date otherwise the full course fee is still payable. In the event that SRUC has to cancel a course for any reason your course fees will be refunded in full or your booking transferred to the next available date if this is suitable.
