Overview
This intensive two day training course is delivered by one of our experienced instructors with a blend of theoretical and practical skills, fulfilling the requirements of the DSC 1 assessment.
What is Involved?
Deer biology and ecology. Legislation. Stalking techniques and taking the shot. Deer identification.
Safety.
Shooting.
Large Game Meat Hygiene.
Candidates who complete all 5 elements of the DSC 1 assessment will have their papers internally verified by the assessment centre (SRUC Barony Campus). Provided there are no problems, we will then advise DMQ who will then issue a DSC1 certificate.
Entry Requirements
Some knowledge/experience of Stalking is advantageous but not a requirement

£300.00 per person. Course fees include training, assessment and registration fees. Please note there is no VAT on our training.

Individual Training Accounts will open on Monday 13 January 2020.
This phase of the scheme will accept up to 10,000 new applications.
SDS Individual Training Accounts (ITA)
You may be eligible for part funding to support the cost of this course.
Get up to £200 towards the cost of a training course with an SDS Individual Training Account (ITA).
You could use the money to build the skills you need for a job. Or get some training to take your career to the next level. Whatever you want to do, there is a wide range of ITA approved courses on offer.

How do I book?
To book a place on one of our courses, please complete and return the course booking form to the appropriate campus address or email address shown below. Course fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. Payments can be made over the phone using a debit/credit card, by cheque made payable to SRUC or by Bank Transfer (for bank transfer details please contact your chosen campus).
Cancellation
Cancellations must be made at least 10 working days prior to the course start date otherwise the full course fee is still payable. In the event that SRUC has to cancel a course for any reason your course fees will be refunded in full or your booking transferred to the next available date if this is suitable.
