This course is designed for anyone who operates a Brushcutter or Trimmer in the course of their employment. It is designed to cover the control of unwanted vegetation ranging from grass/weeds to shrubs/small trees. It will be delivered by one of our qualified staff and involves one day training and a separate NPTC assessment in brushcutting operations.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Certification/Award on Completion
City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Brush-cutters and Trimmers
What you will need to bring
Brushcutter and Trimmer
Appropriate PPE including:
A safety helmet (complying with EN 397).
Hearing protection (complying with EN 352).
Eye protection (a mesh visor complying with EN 1731 or safety glasses/visor to EN 166).
Suitable protective gloves when handling the equipment and for protection from thorns, brambles and harmful weeds.
Protective boots with good grip and ankle support (complying with EN 345-1).
Non-snag outer clothing appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions. The use of high-visibility clothing may also be appropriate.
Hand-cleaning material such as waterless skin cleanser or soap, water and paper towels should be readily available.
Each person should carry a personal first-aid kit including a large wound dressing
Use a harness for supporting the machine which must be fitted and adjusted correctly – see the manufacturer’s handbook

How do I book?
To book a place on one of our courses, please complete and return the course booking form to the appropriate campus address or email address shown below. Course fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. Payments can be made over the phone using a debit/credit card, by cheque made payable to SRUC or by Bank Transfer (for bank transfer details please contact your chosen campus).
Cancellations must be made at least 10 working days prior to the course start date otherwise the full course fee is still payable. In the event that SRUC has to cancel a course for any reason your course fees will be refunded in full or your booking transferred to the next available date if this is suitable.
