About the Course

Oatridge Campus Stables

The course is designed to give students further practical experience and knowledge of horse care and equitation following the NC Horse Care. It provides a stepping stone between the NC level and the HNC Equine Studies.

Duration: 1 academic year

Entry Requirements

Normally expected to have a minimum of 3 National 4s and 2 National 5s including English and Maths plus 2 weeks of practical work experience. Recorded evidence of your riding ability, to include a minimum of walk, trot, canter and jumping to be submitted along with your application.

Course Content

A range of topics will be covered during the course including:

Watering and Feeding, Horse Transportation, Horse Health, Work Experience and Horse Fitness.

Students will also undertake early morning and weekend yard duties as part of the course. An acceptable level of fitness is required to enable students to ride effectively and carry out these yard duties.
