About the Course
This full-time course is suitable for anyone who has a serious interest in the care and welfare of animals and who wishes to gain the knowledge necessary to run a small animal related business of their own.
The course covers subjects related specifically to management & specialist animal care or as preparation for self employment in this sector.
You will study a wide range of subjects including Animals in Society, Work Experience, Applied Companion Animal Behaviour, Animal Care Drugs and Medicines, Animal Care Diagnostic Techniques, Getting Started in Business.
Courses at Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge are now full for 2018 entry, though there are limited places still available at our Aberdeen Campus. Applications for 2019 will open in the autumn.
Applicants must hold a minimum of 2 Scottish Highers (CC)/A-Levels (DE). If science is not offered at Higher/A level, it is a requirement at Standard/N5/GCSE level. 1 week related work experience.
Throughout the course you will develop:
- Skills to prepare you for employment in supervisory and management level jobs related to the Animal Care Industry.
- The knowledge necessary to run a small animal related business of your own.
- A range and depth of knowledge of specialist care and welfare requirements of a wide variety of species.
