Arjan Tolkamp

I’m a quantitative geneticist interested in genomic prediction of important economic, welfare and environmental traits in livestock. My main expertise is quantitative genomics using whole genome sequence data.

Research interests

Some of my research interests include:

  • Utilising next generation sequencing technologies and ever-growing phenotypic datasets in a practical and cost-effective way.
  • Genomic prediction across breeds and in crossbreds.
  • Maximising value of sequence data in genomic studies.

Selected research projects

  • Carcass trait phenotype feedback for genomic selection in sheep (BBSRC/ Agritech strategy) 2017-2020.
  • SMARTER - develop and deploy innovative strategies to improve Resilience and Efficiency (R&E) related traits in sheep and goats.
